Business Analyst

At TGT, the Business Analyst is responsible for the acquisition, development and imparting of information on internal and external (clients) projects in accordance with predetermined timelines and budgets. The role involves learning various software packages or functionality, gathering business requirements, creating many documents, reviewing analytic results with users, analyzing data, and delivering project services. This position focuses on doing (not managing) work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn the software products assigned to the point where you are fluent in their use and can guide others in using this functionality
  • Work with (internal and external) clients to clearly outline project scope, goals, deliverables, and requirements
  • Manage his/her work from initiation to closure with accountability for results
  • Create work plans and estimate effort required for each plan
  • Clearly communicate on all matters to TGT and client team members
  • Resolve issues, mitigate risks and solve problems as they arise
  • Effectively manage projects assigned and communicate heavily on all project related matters
  • Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities
  • Ask questions to better ascertain (internal and external) client requirements
  • Document Business Requirements
  • Create documents as necessary (e-mails, process manuals, etc.)
  • Meet clients (internally or externally) to discuss/explain matters related to the project
  • Understand the systems/processes being discussed and use them as required
  • Develop and deliver end user training
  • Create an atmosphere of competence, trust and credibility by executing assigned work well.

 Job Description 

  • Create project related documents as required (e-mail, process manuals, etc.)
  • Organize and manage your own daily activity
  • Review reports and other documents with a view to creating meaningful analysis and output
  • Meet clients and gather their feedback
  • Define and refine business rules to achieve highly actionable results
  • Analyze data and create action plans accordingly
  • Create reports using the assigned software
  • Mentor and support end-users
  • Write documents

Required character traits, experience, skills & education

  • 3+ years of business experience with demonstrated leadership and people management skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Fluent English (must have excellent verbal and written communication skills)
  • Leadership, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to elicit cooperation with peers
  • Willingness to periodically work beyond the normal 9-5 parameters or 40 hours per week
  • Good computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel-nice to have PowerPoint and Visio experience)
  • Excellent research skills
  • Possesses strong analytical and design skills and a great desire to learn even more
  • Capable of working alone for long stretches of time and in a team environment when necessary


  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in business or a related field.
  • Strong accounting background
  • Has a vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of 2 years PeopleSoft Business Analyst experience

Nice to Have                                                                                                                                               

  • 2+ years’ experience in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application
  • Business Analyst Certificate

Position is based in the Greater Toronto Area with options to work remotely.  Travel to Ontario may be required periodically (e.g. once per quarter).
