Belt Technician North

This is a Full-time position in Laval, QC posted July 24, 2018.

Under the authority of the Director of the Service, the employe of this position will be responsible for the installation of conveyor belts and pulley lagging at our client’s location up North. Working hours will be 12 hours day or night shift on 14 days worked and 14 days off. Flight departure will be every 2 weeks and return 14 days later.

The task is

  • Perform the installation of conveyor belts including:Remove the existing belt and roll it
  • Make all necessary adjustments for the installation of the new belt (counterweight, pulley adjustment, etc …)
  • Perform vulcanization (hot and cold) of the splice of the belts (at the customers and in the workshop)
  • Perform all other related work such as pulley lagging.
  • Conduct customer conveyor inspection and report to immediate supervisor
  • Take charge of the apprentice technicians and assist them and participate in their training in the transmission of knowledge in installation and vulcanization of conveyor belts
  • Make sure you have and use all the equipment required to perform the work in the field and in the workshop
  • Participate in training provided internally or externally at equipment level (forklift, overhead traveling crane), as well as upgrading techniques for vulcanization and installation of conveyor accessories.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the company’s productivity, the preventive maintenance of the equipment and the level of quality of the products.
  • Participate in the improvement of equipment and tools needed for the work (winches, reels, etc.)
  • Execute the safety rules and standards in force at the customer and workshop
  • Take responsibility for the service tooling provided by the company and ensure their proper maintenance
  • Make sure the inventory of the service material is adequate and balance
  • Complete the packing slip with the hours worked and have them approved by the client, and deliver the slip to his immediate supervisor the next day at the latest with all the related documents (meal receipts, accommodation, etc …), or indicate upcoming expenses or no receipts if applicable
  • Indicate on the list all the material used for the works
  • Maintain regular contact with his immediate supervisor on the progress of work or any anomalies and technical problems encountered
  • Clean and maintain a clean workspace at a customer or workshop
