Payroll Technician

A well-known heavy equipment company is hiring for its Laval office. We are looking for a Payroll Technician who will stand out for their ability to quickly learn and how to effectively manage the department’s priorities! Do you feel ready to join our client’s team? Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Complete pay processing for employees in Eastern Canada (approximately 400 unionized and non-unionized employees).
  • Ensure any changes and maintenance of employee files (change of status, salary increase, change of position, etc.).
  • Prepare, verify reports and calculations of salary obligations (federal and provincial income tax, RRSP contributions, Employment Insurance, work accident deduction, etc.).
  • Extract and verify accuracy of the payroll data.
  • Process records and termination.
  • Perform year-end processing – T4, R1 and other reports.
  • Perform the processing of garnishments and stoppages of salary, pension contributions, etc.
  • Process payroll journal entries.
  • Carry out any other tasks related and similar to payroll process.

  • DVS in Accounting or DCS in Administration/Accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the UKG payroll system (Ultimate Software) – an asset.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in the full payroll processing.
  • Be member or in the process of becoming a member of The Canadian Payroll Association – a considerable asset.
  • Excellent bilingualism – especially verbal (your manager is in the Alberta region).
  • Knowledge of provincial labour laws and standards.
  • Knowledge or interest in federal labour laws and standards – an asset.

  • Be able to work with tight deadlines – have excellent priority management.
  • Be meticulous and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Be proactive and resourceful.

  • Be in solution mode.
