PURPOSE: Dana Corporation is seeking to fill the position of a Lead Electrical Applications Engineer on our electric commercial vehicle integration strategy team at our Laval, Canada or Novi, MI office.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in all phases of customer BEV programs / projects from customer RFQ to production launch.
- Lead a team of engineers who will:
- Facilitate internal communications between Engineering, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing and Assembly
- Selection of electronic components and validation of specifications according to vehicle requirements.
- Define the vehicle architecture and create electrical schematics.
- Support the team responsible for the detailed design of wiring harnesses and the manufacturing team.
- Support in packaging electronic sub-systems & components into customer chassis
- As well as to be able to do the same tasks
- Support prototype vehicle controls design effort.
- Support customer program PDS, BOM, DFMEA, DVP, ED&T, and support RFQ response.
- Lead and provide hands-on support of special vehicle builds as well as coordination of special orders.
- Support Advanced Program Quality Planning and Design Review activities.
- Develop and lead implementation of BEV component cost savings and assembly process improvement
- Attend/facilitate/host customer engineering meetings and help bring open issues to closure.
- Provide BEV expertise in support of the customer’s requirements.
- Engage with customer engineering community, representing Dana in a positive, ethical, and
- professional manner.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical (electro-mechanical) Engineering required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive or commercial vehicle industry.
- Experience in leading a team of engineers.
- Experience in drivetrain/powertrain/chassis engineering or related field is a plus.
- Experience with battery electric vehicles and/or components is a plus.
- Basic CAD (NX or similar) and Wiring Schematic Software (Eplan, Mentor Graphics) skills
- Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is willing to accept responsibility.
- Structured problem-solving abilities.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a
- professional manner.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint) and Outlook.
