Branch Manager

This is a Contract position in Laval, QC posted November 22, 2022.

The candidate is responsible for managing the service department of the branch and overseeing the dispatch of customer orders to be fulfilled in the workshop as well as service calls from service technicians on the road. He coordinates the activities of the Service department of the Quebec and Jonquière branches, in relation to the requests of internal and external customers.

Main tasks* :

  • Ensure the availability of all categories of products and services related to the complete maintenance of conveyors (supply and installation of conveyor belts, rollers, accessories, rubber products, mechanical maintenance, etc.) by having an independent team and competent, as well as to increase the turnover of the inventory of the different categories of products;
  • Lead, control, coordinate and motivate a team of technicians and service, and ensure to broaden their fields of knowledge concerning the design, operation and mechanics of belt conveyors;
  • Hiring, supervising, guiding, directing, mobilizing the members of his team and ensuring their training, the management of their performance (knowledge, attitude, behavior, etc.). Appreciate the contribution of employees, discipline if necessary;
  • Apply company policies in relation to human resources management, including the security rules in force;
  • Responsible for the maintenance and integrity of fixed assets (trucks, equipment and tools, building, etc.);
  • Participate in the solution of technical problems when required, in support of the customer service department;
  • Work closely with the Director of Customer Service regarding the continuous improvement of internal business processes, inventory management, coordination of service calls with the customer service department, etc.;
  • Occasionally participate in project estimates and submissions with internal and external representatives of the customer service team;
  • Occasionally visit major clients with the representative to strengthen the business relationship;
  • Responsible for ensuring that cycle counts and end-of-year inventory counts are correctly performed as well as the labeling process is applied;
  • Communicate inventory discrepancies to Laval so that adjustments can be correctly recorded in P21 (By Laval);
  • Responsible for managing clothing, tools, shop and office supplies and creating and issuing purchase orders for restocking;
  • Respect operating expenses in the budget;
  • Responsible for achieving the Service Department’s productivity and profitability objectives and maintaining a harmonious work environment;
  • Continuously promote the company culture in line with organizational values ​​and behave as a role model in front of employees;
  • Technical support to representatives of Quebec and Jonquière;
  • Visit the Jonquière branch on a regular basis every two weeks;
  • All other related tasks.

Training and experience:

  • Hold a university degree in Operations Management or Industrial Engineering.
  • Have more than 10 years of relevant experience in conveyor belts and at least 5 years as a team manager

Technical skills :

  • Ability to quickly learn technical concepts and to popularize technical information.
  • Mastery of units of measurement (imperial and metric) and basic mathematical knowledge.
  • Master the Windows environment and SAP-style software package

Non-technical skills:

  • Leadership / Ability to motivate, guide staff and develop their skills
